God, in Genesis 15, promised Abram (Abraham, Genesis 17:5) a son by his wife Sarai (Sarah Genesis 17:15); however, in promising Abraham a son by Sarah, God was also telling Abraham and Sarah the promise would take twenty-five years to experience, because God revealed this to him when in Genesis 15:13, He promised Abraham his descendants would be slaves four hundred years.; thus, God’s promises may take weeks, months, or years before coming to fruition, which makes patient trust without question, so hard to obey.
When God in Genesis 37, gave Joseph, Jacob’s oldest son by Rachel, dreams of greatness, by his entire family bowing before him in humble submission to his royal authority, caused the jealously of his brothers to sell Joseph into Egyptian slavery; therefore, Joseph would be a slave and prisoner for thirteen years before King Pharaoh appointed Joseph second in command, and his dreams became realities.
When God begins seriously dealing with us to totally trust every detail of life to His care, because 1 Peter 5:5-7 commands it of us; do not expect Him to radically change us so we move from distrust, to desiring to trust, to semi-trust, to some trust and some distrust, and finally to short time trust, but still not capable of trusting God’s preset plan, purpose, and time for it to happen.
According to Scripture, all those in our examples weakened at some point during the lengthy test of patient trust, for God wanted people in every generation to know and understand total trust in Him usually requires time to mature spiritually, to have a close, peaceful, sweet, trusting relationship with God, through Jesus Christ, by the Holy Spirit, but according to Scripture, it is well worth the patient trust in God, regardless of the time it takes.
However, in agreement with Jesus’ promise in John 16:12-15, the Holy Spirit is responsible to guide us into all truth and tell us things to come; thus, we should expect Him to guide us and tell us periodically what Father and Christ need us to know concerning Father’s will for us.
God never requires His children to blindly trust Him without any help from the Holy Spirit, so always expect messages from the Holy Spirit periodically, allowing us to know He is still guiding us, as Hebrews 13:5-6 promises.
If though, we do not have a settled peace during the trusting time, then it is doubt and not trust; thus, we must get the doubt (distrust) settled with the Godhead before we continue “trusting God”.
To me, the best and simplest way to settle this distrust between God and me is to ask Him, in Jesus’ name to remove from me the distrust and replace it with genuine trust in Him, regardless of what He does or does not do, for I must totally trust His best for me instead of what I desire.
Total trust in God sets us free from the satanic fear of death, agonizing suffering, and medical addiction, because when we give everything to God, in Jesus’ name, it all becomes His problem and no longer our problem, so whatever the outcome, we praise, thank, and worship Him.
We must learn to be truly thankful for everything, even each ache and pain, and teach our children to be thankful for everything God sends, to teach us His strength in the face of all our enemies, as commanded in Psalm 8:2; Ephesians 5:19-21, and 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18.
At times we cannot pray ourselves out of a wet paper bag, but we can praise and thank our way out of most anything, for this is promised in Psalm 27:1-6.
