The meaning of the verb “choose”, in Joshua 24:15, is “accept, appoint, elect, decide, select”. It is where Joshua commanded Israel to choose the god they would serve, but he and his house chose to serve the LORD, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; thus, Joshua gave them the choice of self-creating their own god to serve or to serve the One True God, the Creator.
Given that same choice today and being honest, we might find we are serving many gods: anger, bluster (bully, a controlling spirit), fear, greed, manipulation, chemical dependency, pride, lust, unforgiveness, lying, stealing, adultery, hatred, nudity, vulgarity, jealously, peer pressure, and so many other idol-god-satanic-spirits.
But we fail to recognize each of these areas of the soul—emotion, mind, will—is being controlled by that satanic spirit (Revelation 12:3-4), for these satanic spirits can only be satisfied by persuading someone through whom they can work their wickedness, and we unknowingly but willingly, allow these satanic spirits to work through us to satisfy themselves and destroy us (John 10:10).
The satanic spirits do not care if we live, die, or go to the lake of fire, so long as their satanic evil is satisfied through someone of any age, nationality, or status.
Live by this rule: Do not blame God for anything, but give God credit for everything.
Job 1-2 shows Satan obeyed God, although Job accepted the spirit of dreadful fear (3:25).
In 1 Samuel 18:10-11 a depressing, evil, jealous, destroying spirit obeyed God, although King Saul accepted that satanic spirit, for he both envied and feared David, his musician.
A lying spirit obeys God in 2 Chronicles 18:21-22 (but read the entire chapter).
An unclean spirit of nudity obeys Jesus in Mark 5:1-15, along with many other demons.
The evil satanic spirits behind COVID – 19, obey God’s purpose, timing, and limitation.
Do not blame God for anything, but give God credit for everything, because God still owns and controls everything He created, and God will either send His holy, submissive angels to help us or He will send the rebellious satanic spirits to either correct and bring us into line with His will, or to destroy us, for God’s will is always done, for God always wins—always.
From Isaiah 63:7-10, we know the Godhead will either be on our side and win, or He will oppose us and win; depending on whether we obey Him or reject Him.
Satan and his wicked forces MUST obey God, and we should CHOOSE to obey God.
Choose who you will serve, but the wise choose to serve the One True God, our Owner.
Remember: God always wins—good always wins—for God is always good—always!
