Jesus Final Promise

In Leviticus 21:10-12, God commanded the high priest to be set apart, for he was holy to the Lord, because of the covering of anointing oil poured on him at his consecration, his total dedication to the service of the Lord.

In Isaiah 10:24-27, God promised Israel, even though the Assyrian army had attacked them, yet because of their covering of anointing oil, and at His timing, He would break off the Assyrian yoke from Israel’s neck, meaning God’s anger against the Assyrians was their destruction, by the Babylonian army.

In agreement with James 5:13-18, God places an exceedingly high value on the covering of anointing oil, because it represents holy consecration coming from faith in God and prayer to Him for our needs, for God uses the Prophet Elijah as an example of a dedicated prayer life of unquestionable faith in God to keep His word.

First John 2:18-27 is God’s promise the Holy Spirit’s anointing (covering) keeps committed Christians free from the satanic force’s deceptive lies in these last days of tormenting fear.

1 John 2:18-27 (NKJV)—18 Little children, it is the last hour; and as you have heard the Antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have come, by which we know it is the last hour. 19 They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us; but they went out, so it could be revealed, none of them were of us. 20 But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you know all things. 21 I have not written to you because you do not know the truth, but because you know it, and no lie is of the truth. 22 Who is a liar but he who denies Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist who denies the Father and the Son. 23 Whoever denies the Son does not have the Father either; he who acknowledges the Son has the Father also. 24 Therefore, let that abide in you which you heard from the beginning. If what you heard from the beginning abides in you, you also will abide in the Son and in the Father. 25 And this is the promise He has promised us—eternal life. 26 These things I have written to you concerning those who try to deceive you. 27 But the anointing which you have received from Him abides IN YOU, and you do not need anyone to teach you; but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you will abide in Him.

Here arises obvious questions: The anointing oil was placed on the outside of the body, yet here the anointing we receive abides or lives within us, so why the difference, and on which does God place His highest value?

Acts 1:7-8 is Jesus’ final promise before He ascended back to His heavenly throne, telling the disciples the Holy Spirit anointing UPON them would be for bold power to proclaim Him, but in John 14:15-18, Jesus promises the Holy Spirit will be WITH and IN committed Christians, who are crucified to the world and the world crucified to us (Galatians 6:14; Psalm 45:7; Hebrews 1:9).

John 16:5-15 is Jesus’ explanation of the Holy Spirit anointing is Him covering us both inside and outside, with authority and power to guide us through every situation we face, if we will only believe and trust Him, and not believe and trust worldly leaders to guide us.

John 17:6-26 is Jesus’ dedicational prayer not only for those at the time God was giving Him, but also for those in the future God gives Him, whose names were already written in the Book of Life before creation began. These are those who are crucified to the world and the world crucified to us (Galatians 6:14), the totally submitted to God, through Jesus Christ, by the Holy Spirit.
