Training Our Spirit

The Apostle Paul in Romans 8:12-17 explains how the Holy Spirit confirms (witnesses) our salvation, our spiritual change from slave of Satan to child of God, which includes confirmation that we are legally God’s heir and Christ’s joint heir of everything; allowing us to understand God is eternal—always has existed and always will; therefore, our legal inheritance is received by faith (Matthew 9:29, Mark 5:34), for Jesus says in Mark 11:24, 24 Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them”.

When we thus are assured by the Holy Spirit that we are a Christian, a child of God, His heir and Christ’s joint heir, then we are assured when we honestly and truly believe we already have what is stated in God’s Will, His Word, then our faith assures us we will receive it if our faith holds unshakable until it happens, but if we allow our faith to doubt, even a little, it will not happen.

Again, in Romans 8:18-30 the Apostle Paul assures God’s children, His heirs and Christ’s joint heirs, when we understand our legal and immediate rights to all God is and has, the purpose of God’s timing (Ecclesiastes 3:1-8), will cause mental anguish the body feels as pain and suffering, but the Apostle Peter explains all this has a beginning and ending, for he says in 1 Peter 5:8-11, 8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. 9 Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world. 10 But may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you. 11 To Him be the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.

Hebrews 5:5-8 elaborates on the verb “perfect”, for even though Jesus, the resurrected Christ, was God’s Son, yet even He, God in the flesh, had to suffer in order to learn obedience, the same way we learn obedience through suffering, that has a beginning and ending time to perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle us.

Do not ask God to remove the mental anguish, the body sees as pain and suffering, but do ask God to help us joyfully learn obedience to Him and His word, so we can move to the next level of the Holy Spirit’s training. God uses the obedience training that perfectly fits each of us; thus, pray one for another, for us to quickly learn the obedience training, so our faith becomes steadfast and unmovable in receiving what we are heirs and joint hears of.

It was Jesus, the resurrected Christ, God’ Son, who said (willed) instant healing by the faith of the two blind men, in Matthew 9:27-30a, 27 When Jesus departed from there, two blind men followed Him, crying out and saying, “Son of David, have mercy on us!” 28 And when He had come into the house, the blind men came to Him. And Jesus said to them, “Do you believe I am able to do this?” They said to Him, “Yes, Lord.” 29 Then He touched their eyes, saying, “According to (in agreement with your faith let it be to you.” 30 And their eyes were opened.

We do not receive because we do not believe, for we are still in the preschool class of “asking God to do for us what He has already promised us”; therefore, our faith is not “according to or in agreement with God’s word (will); thus, as heirs and joint heirs, we do not understand God has already “willed” everything He is and has to His children, those the Holy Spirit has confirmed.

How much suffering will it take for us to stop asking God for what He has already willed (promised) in His Word (Will)?

This is what God, in 2 Peter 1:1-6, has willed to His children, His heirs and Christ’s joint heirs, 1 …, To those who have obtained like precious faith with us by the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ: 2 Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, 3 as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, 4 by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
