Romans 14:14-23 explains “the law of love”: About how to love those easily offended, but it has to be done by “faith working through love”, for verse 23 says, “But he who doubts is condemned if he eats, because he does not eat from faith; for whatever is not from faith is sin.”
“The law of love”, then depends on faith; otherwise, it is sin, but both here and Galatians 5:1-6, explains “the law of love” embraces humility toward God and people, because verse 6 says, “For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision avails anything, but faith working through love”; therefore, everything in life must be from faith working through love, or it is sin.
Every created being has been given enough faith to get anything promised in God’s word, including salvation and healing, for Romans 12:1-3 assures us God has given each of us our personal measure of faith, because verse 3 says, “For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as God has dealt to each one a measure of faith.”
When God explains “whatever is not from faith is sin”, and “faith works through love”, and here in verse 3, the Apostle Paul says, “For I say, through the grace given to me”, this same Apostle Paul explains in Romans 5:1-5, especially in verse 2, without faith no one can access (get into or be given) grace unless they have “faith working through love”, for grace and truth came through Jesus Christ the same way the Old Testament Law came through Moses (John 1:17).
When Jesus, in John 14:1-6, was explaining “the way , the truth, and the life” it takes for Him to prepare us a place in His Father’s house; Thomas told Jesus they did not know where He was going, so how could they know the way? Thus, Jesus explained it to Thomas in verse 6, by saying, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me”; therefore, we can think, say, or do whatever our “man-made religion” requires to become right with God, but without faith in Jesus Christ, obeying and trusting everything to Him, then it is not only wrong; it is sin.
Hebrews 11:5-6 is often quoted to reveal only faith pleases God, for unless we believe God exists and greatly rewards anyone who humbly and lovingly seek His guidance and will; we will never care enough about God to believe He exists and blesses—this is the lifestyle of atheists.
We might be thinking, “How can I know for sure God is real and His peaceful, sweet presence can be felt”, then start reading and believing Hebrews 13 5-6, and see how long it takes to believe and feel God’s peaceful, sweet presence, for He is always present— just not always felt—He always watches out for us; just not seen”. Rember, we only get the promises we believe for.
Hebrews 13:5-6—5 Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have, For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” 6 So we may boldly say: “The LORD is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?”
